The Phototropic Response ofAvenaColeoptiles following Localized Continuous Unilateral Illumination

Abstract
When only part of the elongating zone on an Avena coleoptile is subject to continuous unilateral illumination, the major phototropic response is restricted to the illuminated area. It is argued that previous studies have greatly exaggerated the contribution of any differential growth in non-illuminated zones to the development of second positive phototropic curvature.
