Abstract
An evaluation of previously uncalculated finite size effects on the Lamb shift of normal atoms, with use of methods which are well known from muonic atoms, gives corrections which are larger than the experimental uncertainties (40 ppm for the Lamb shift in hydrogen). The additional corrections tend to restore agreement between theory and experiment. Keywords
