Abstract
To test the hypothesized relationship between the degree of lateralization of different brain functions and that of cognitive differentiation, using the field dependence-independence construct, 50 normals, half right-handed and half ambilateral, were given 3 different measures of field-dependence. The right-handed were more field-independent than the ambidexterous ones. A subgroup of strongly ear-preferent Ss in dichotic listening were more field-independent than a subgroup of mixed-ear-preferent ones.
