Measurements of dielectric properties by time domain spectroscopy

Abstract
The dielectric response function of severals alcohols is calculated from TDR measurements in the temperature range 0 to 50 °C. Using simple formulas derived by real time analysis, this function was computed from the time integral and self‐convolutions up to the second order of the reflections produced by an incident step voltage pulse on a finite sample inserted in a low‐loss coaxial line. The calculations take account of finite amplitude of the reflection and the response function in third order approximation and of finite rise time. Precision of the analysis and the experiments are discussed.
