Abstract
Neuraminic acid derivatives were separated by thin layer chromatography on Kieselgel G in the systems propanol/lNNH4OH/water (6:2:1) and propanol/water (7:3). The lower limits for the detection of N-acetylneuraminic acid were 1 [mu]g. with HCl-orcinol, 1-2 [mu]g. with HCl-resorcinol, less than 1 [mu]g. with a modified thiobarbituric acid method.
