Abstract
Absolute cross sections are reported here for the ionization of K atoms having laboratory energies in the range 20-1000 eV when interacting with H2, N2, O2, and CO molecules. The range of energies covered, E, and the corresponding cross sections σ01 for each of the four target species are as follows: for O2, 20<E<1000 eV, 8×1019<σ01<1.1×1015 cm2; for N2, 50<E<1000 eV, 2.5×1019<σ01<4×1017 cm2; for CO, 100<E<1000 eV, 2×1019<σ01<2.3×1017 cm2; for H2, 150<E<1000 eV, 6×1020<σ01<8×1018 cm2.
