Dysphagia Associated with Sclerosis of the Aorta

Abstract
1. Seven cases are presented in which dysphagia was associated with pressure on the oesophagus from a sclerotic and unfolded aorta. 2. All the patients were elderly women, of whom four had hypertensive heart failure and one had arterio-sclerotic heart disease with failure. In three cases, other causes of dysphagia were excluded by oesophagoscopy. 3. The radiological findings are discussed and an appearance found in the supine position, described for the first time.
