Abstract
The ability to initiate adaptive increases in the activities of a large number of enzymes is impaired during aging in various tissues from several different species. Alterations in the availability and/or effectiveness of hormones, whose presence is crucial to the regulation of these enzymes in vivo, are at least partially responsible for this biochemical manifestation of senescence.Keywords
