Recognition of the Species of Origin of Cells in Culture by Mixed Agglutination

Abstract
Cells from tissue cultures of animals containing Forssman antigen are agglutinated in "mixed agglutination** using papainized guinea pig erythrocytes as indicators and anti-Forssman sera as antibody source. Forssman "negative" cells acquire heterophile antigen when growing in serum containing the antigen. Forssman "positive" cells do not lose their antigen by growth in serum lacking it. Detailed technical data are given.
