Abstract
Fluorescence of the free radical NH2, produced in the gas phase in a flow system at a total pressure of ∼1 torr, has been excited by a cw dye laser operating in the region 5600–6300 Å. Values have been obtained for the vibrational energies G0 of the (0,1,0), (0,2,0), (1,0,0), (1,1,0), and (0,4,0) levels in the ground electronic state from an analysis of the emission which extends from 6300 to 8700 Å; approximate rotational constants (A, B, and C) have also been derived for these levels. The effects of collision‐induced transitions are observed experimentally and the selection rules which govern these transitions are discussed. Keywords
