THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE PITUITARY GLAND AND THE GONADS IN FUNDULUS

Abstract

Injs. of pituitary extracts into Fundulus produced no definite effect on the testis and a possible stimulating effect on the ovaries of only 4 out of 35 injected [female][female]. After the pituitary gland was removed, however, the testis did not enlarge at the next breeding changes, became smaller than in control animals, and failed to develop mature sex cells.
