Abstract
The polarization of proton groups corresponding to the ground and first excited states in the reactions and have been measured for an incident deuteron energy of 7.8 Mev. With the exception of the first excited state of , the sign of the polarization for six known cases is consistent with the relation when , the axis of quantization being defined by . The anomalous polarization of the first excited state of is interpreted as evidence for a spin-flip exchange process in the stripping reaction.
