Abstract
Upper bounds on the interband transitions for Bloch electrons in homogeneous electric fields are obtained. The bounds are powerful enough to imply the existence of 'oscillating Bloch electrons' in weak electric fields. The existence of the effective Wannier Hamiltonians of arbitrary order is also proved. Keywords
