Antibody Survey Following an Outbreak of Human and Equine Disease in the Dominican Republic, Caused by the Eastern Strain of Equine Encephalomyelitis Virus

Abstract
Summary Sera collected following an outbreak of human and equine infection due to the eastern strain of equine encephalomyelitis virus in the province of Monte Cristi in the Dominican Republic showed a high incidence of antibodies in human and equine sera, indicating a high inapparent infection rate. The incidence of antibodies was found to be highest near the seacoast.
