This paper provides a general survey of the current situation in West Nile and, more specifically, in Moyo District, where I am currently undertaking anthropological fieldwork. My remarks are divided into five sections. First, I present a brief overview of what has happened there in the last few years. Second, I give an impression of the context in which the international agencies are working. Third, I make some observations about the activities of these agencies. Fourth, I show what all this has actually meant for the people of Laropi Sub-Parish, among whom I am living. Finally, I make some comments about what might be the way forward for the aid programmes.
