TERPENOIDS: IV. THE STRUCTURE AND STEREOCHEMISTRY OF HELMINTHOSPORAL

Abstract
Helminthosporal has been converted into the anhydride (X), which has been dehydrogenated to give (VI): this compound has been synthesized. Spectroscopic study of a number of derivatives of helminthosporal has enabled a decision to be made in favor of (XXVI; R = CHO) as a representation of the structure and stereochemistry of the dialdehyde.
