Studies on Cytochrome A

Abstract
Absorption bands of some compounds of ferricytochrome a(424,600 m[mu]) and Na2S2O4-reduced ferrocytochrome a(444,605 m[mu]) are presented. Ferricytochrome a-cyanide (428,600 m[mu]); ferrocytochrome a[long dash]CO (430,605 m[mu]; ferrocytochrome a[long dash]NO (430,603 m[mu]); ferrocytochrome a in presence of O2 (426~ 428, 603 m[mu]). A strong autooxidizability of ferrocytochrome a is enhanced by the addition of a small amount of cytochrome c. The cytochrome c oxidase[long dash]like function of cytochrome a is discussed.
