Abstract
The influence of nonlinear (fourth-order) terms in the Lagrangians of some classical relativistic field theories is investigated, independently of the mass and coupling-constant parameters. In the spinor case, stable localized configurations with a lowest energy state are shown to exist always for positive values of the coupling constant. Keywords
