ABSORPTION AND TRANSLOCATION OF RADIOACTIVE 2,4-DICHLORO-5-IODO131-PHENOXYACETIC ACID BY GREEN PLANTS

Abstract
The monocotyledonous plants: corn, wheat, oats and orchard grass (Dactylus glomerata) absorbed the growth-regulating substance 2, 4-dichloro-5-iodol31-phenoxyacetic acid, but to a lesser degree than did the dicotyledonous plants:sunflower, dandelion, bean, and narrow leaved plantain (Plantago lanceolata). The conduction through the plant was also much slower in the monocotyledonous plants. The intercalary meristem seems to be the block in the path of conduction in these plants.
