Abstract
Almost without warning, several pathogens - the most worrisome among them being H. influenzae - that had been stable over three decades in their sensitivity to particular antibiotics have undergone changes in their resistance patterns. These, in turn, mandate changes in long-established patterns of treatment. Practical strategies and guidelines found effective in home and hospital are offered. Keywords
