Abstract
Nerves and muscles from 6 verified autopsy cases of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis were examined. Several gold impregnated muscle biopsies were also studied. Residual motor nerve fibers branch and reinnervate muscle fibers in this disease. The appearance of muscular weakness and wasting must be delayed by these regenerative phenomena. Keywords
