The Induction in Mice of Sensitization and Immunological Unresponsiveness by Neonatal Injection of Bovine γ-Globulin

Abstract
Summary: Results obtained by means of passive hemagglutination and agar diffusion studies on mouse sera have shown that: DBA/2 and A/Jax mice which had received 1 mg of bovine γ-globulin (BGG) intraperitoneally at birth showed a secondary type antibody response to a single challenge with BGG during the second month of age. This state of sensitization was preceded by a state of immunological unresponsiveness to BGG, demonstrated by challenge at 14 days of age.Mice which had received 10 to 30 mg of BGG neonatally were unresponsive when tested at 40 days of age. This state of unresponsiveness decreased with time.
