Abstract
Several compounds were tested as dusts and sprays in 1947 for control of Tetranychus bimaculatus and insects on lima beans. Mite infestations were artificially created. A mixture containing 1% of parathion dust gave a 44.3% increase in the wt. of clean pods over the checks, with little evidence of aphid and Mexican bean beetle infestation. The most promising results with sprays were obtained with 1 pint of hexaethyl tetraphosphate or 1 quart of a 50% soln. of chlorinated camphene per 100 gal. of water. The gains in terms of clean pods over checks averaged about 30% for both treatments.
