Abstract
Testololactone produced growth of the levator ani muscle of the castrate immature male rat. Confirmatory studies in 2 groups of castrate male rats and one group of 5 "plateaued" adult female rats of the Long-Evans strain disclosed that doses of 5 or 10 mg. of testololactone per rat per day produced significant N retention. Despite continued admn.,however, the animals did not show continued retention of N after the 5th day of treatment. In no case was growth of the seminal vesicles produced. although as much as 10 mg. of testololactone per day were given for 9 days. Testololactone is not androgenic but has remarkablyevanescent anabolic activity. Keywords
