Knight Shift in Potassium

Abstract
The K39 nuclear magnetic resonance has been observed in metallic potassium and in aqueous solutions of KNO3 and K3Co(CN)6. From these observations a Knight shift of (0.248±0.005)% has been obtained. Using Pines' value 0.60×106 for the spin susceptibility gives Pf=0.95 a03. This is compared with the theoretical values 0.786 a03 obtained by Callaway and 0.909 a03 obtained by a quantum defect calculation in this paper.
