The Sierra de Perija, Venezuela

Abstract
An ornithological expedition report with references to ethnography and geography of the little-known mountain region along the Venezuela-Colombia border. Recent changes in natural vegetation resulting from development of dairy industries and petroleum exploration are compared with the 1918 description of Theodoor de Booy. Details of the subtropical vegetation of the Sierra de Perija and the Maracaibo Lowlands are presented in both text and captions of the photographs.
