ANESTHESIA. XLI

Abstract
The mixed halogenated saturated hydrocarbons produced respiratory irritation and rigidity and uncoordinated muscle activity. Un-saturated mixed halogenated hydrocarbons sometimes showed anesthetic properties but had undesirable effects on the myocardium. Fluorinated hydrocarbons usually had weaker anesthetic properties. Four of 6 fluorinated ethers showed useful anesthetic potentialities, especially trifluproethyl vinyl ether, which might well be of value in clinical anesthesia.
