On the Electrochemical Oxidation of Glucose: Identification of Volatile Products by On‐Line Mass Spectroscopy

Abstract
A new approach to the study of the electrochemical oxidation of glucose in phosphate buffer is presented. The use of on‐line mass spectroscopy allows the direct analysis of production during a potential scan. Adsorbed intermediates are investigated by applying a flow cell technique in combination with mass spectroscopy in solutions containing (13C) glucose. For comparison, the results for potassium gluconate are reported.
