Magnitude of reinforcement and choice behavior in children.

Abstract
"The classical two-choice uncertain outcome experimental paradigm has been adapted for use with preschool children in a test of the predictions of two models for choice behavior in the situation. Children exhibited a greater tendency to maximize the probability of a correct response as the amount of reinforcement for such a response was increased . . ‥ In addition, it is suggested that the maximizing tendency observed among very young children may be indicative of a more advanced stage in the development of a 'concept of probability' in children of this age than that which may be inferred from Piaget's results."
