Abstract
1. We obtained from sewage a bacterium which decomposes only group A, but not group O and B substances. This bacterium, considered from various bacteriological characteristics, is designated to Clostridium tertium. 2. Group A substance decomposing enzym, produced from this bacterium, loses its activity completely by 5 minutes heating at 70°C. The optimum pH for the enzym activity is 7.2-7.4, and the optimum temperature is 30°C-37°C.Keywords
