Abstract
The method of Willstatter and Stoll was revised to permit a more complete separation of carotene from other plant pigments. A K2Cr2O1 standard was evaluated colorimetrically against [alpha] and [beta] carotene of known purity. It has a color value which permits its use when either the a or )3 or both forms of carotene are present. The revised method permits a recovery of 95-97% of added carotene. This publication has 8 references indexed in Scilit:
