Abstract
2-Indolylfulgides with different substituents were synthesized using the Sobbe condensation. All of these new fulgides show excellent photochromic behavior, and in addition, for the first time, the colored form of these fulgides has the unusual property of emitting rather strong fluorescence at room temperature when exposed to visible light. Keywords
