Stark-induced anticrossings in hydrogen. II. Experimental study, measurement of the2P3/2-2D3/2Lamb shifts in H(n=3 and 4)

Abstract
For pt.I see ibid., vol.11, no.3, p.413 (1978). Anticrossings between Zeeman sublevels of hydrogen induced by a motional electric field are observed. There is good agreement between theory and experiment. The structure of the excited levels of H is then deduced and the Lamb shifts 2P3/2-2D3/2 are determined. They are found to have the values: 32P3/2-32D3/2=5.88+or-0.65 MHz and 42P3/2-42D3/2=2.2+or-1.0 MHz.
