The synthesis and characterisation of some organosilicon, organogermanium, and organotin arsines

Abstract

The organometallic arsines Me₃SiAsMe₂, Me₂Si(AsMe₂)₂, MeSi(AsMe₂)₃, Me₃GeAsMe₂, and Me₃SnAsMe₂ have been synthesised by various methods and their infrared and ¹H nuclear magnetic resonance spectra are reported and discussed. The different action of carbon disulphide upon Me₃SiAsMe₂, Me₃GeAsMe₂, and Me₃SnAsMe₂ is discussed. The tin–arsenic bond is stable to attack by water.
