Abstract
Approximate expressions are obtained for the velocity resolution of Rudd's laser fluid-flow laser velocimeter when used with a spectrum analyser or with a pulse counting discriminator. The expressions are also valid for the several preceding variants of Rudd's scheme. The theory is supported by resolution measurements made using an analogue simulation of the velocimeter. Keywords
