Photolysis of some cyclopentadioxinones

Abstract
The photolysis of four cyclopentadioxinones is reported. The products from the reactions are cyclopentaphen-anthrenones formed by a novel stilbene-type cyclisation under non-oxidative conditions utilsing a leaving group in the aromatisation step.
