Abstract
Estimates of beam breakup instability (BBU) growths are given for multiturn recirculating induction accelerators currently under active study. The dispersion relation based on a simple model shows that BBU growth cannot be completely suppressed by just reducing the quality factor Q alone. Various methods of BBU control are discussed. Keywords
