THE EFFECT OF ATROPINE UPON THE ABSORPTION OF VITAMIN A

Abstract
Vit. A tolerance curves were detd. on human subjects with no gastro-intestinal disease, the test substance being given intra-enterically; when the subjects were atropinized the absorption of vit. A was retarded. Attempts to improve the absorption rate in atropinized subjects by increasing the dispersion of the vit. in the small intestine were not successful, but the addition of intestinal juice to the test dose partly counteracted the delaying effect of atropine on absorption rate.
