Abstract
The electrolyte changes in both groups were essentially the same. Admn. of "6063" caused transient increased urinary pH, increased urinary CO2, Na, K and phosphate and a fall in urinary NH3. Associated with this there was a fall in arterial pH and CO2 content. There is a transient decrease in the plasma K concn. After 2-3 days the daily urinary excretion of electrolytes returned to the levels of the control period, but the plasma CO2 content remained depressed during the entire period of drug admn. and the arterial pH only gradually rose to the control levels. Upon cessation of "6063" therapy, there was decreased urinary excretion of Na, increased urinary NH3 and a rise of blood pH to above control values for 3-7 days.
