Abstract
Examination of the neutral fraction of pregnant mares'' urine extract for pregnandiol gave crystals (from benzene) of a saturated alcohol which, when purified, melted at 303-304.5[degree], and had [[alpha]L46iA=[long dash]44[degree]. Analyses agreed with the formula (C7H12O). The acetate, m.p. 168[degree], analyzed to agreement with (CtHhO.O.COCHs) . The great insolubility of the alcohol prevented determination of its molecular weight, and the acetate gave anomalous values from 413 to 381 (mean, 394) by Rast''s method. The alcohol may be related to pregnandiol. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
