The natural ovalbumin gene contains seven intervening sequences

Abstract
EcoRI fragments of the natural [chick] ovalbumin gene were cloned [in Escherichia coli] and studied by hybridization with mature ovalbumin mRNA, EM, restriction enzyme mapping and limited sequence analysis. The structural gene sequences coding for ovalbumin were separated into 8 sequentially orientated pieces by 7 intervening sequences of various lengths.
