Abstract
Purified prothrombin can be activated by dissolving it in a 25% soln. of Na citrate, but the yield of thrombin is usually low. By adding a small amt. of 3-chloro-4, 4[image]-diaminodiphenyl sulfone to the activation mixture, the yield of thrombin is increased to the maximum. Several other diphenyl sulfones also increase the yield. In contrast, 3,4,4[image]-triaminodiphenyl sulfone and 2-hydroxy-4,4-diaminodiphenyl sulfone act as inhibitors of the activation process. Keywords
