Antigenicity of Monocomponent Porcine Insulin in Rabbits

Abstract
Monocomponent and commercial porcine insulin preparations administered with Freund's adjuvant, induced insulin antibodies in rabbits. The results show that the proinsulin-like contaminants in commercial insulin are not the essential stimuli for insulin antibody formation, and that purification of insulin per se is not sufficient to render insulin non-immunogenic. The physical state of insulin is more important in its immunogenicity.
