Abstract
II. The chlorophyll content of spinach chloroplasts is 7.7% of their dry wt., and the chloroplast content of the leaves is about 16.9%. The chloroplasts contain about 35.6% ether soluble compounds and 44.8% protein.[long dash]III. The conc. of K, Mg, Ca and P in the ash of the spinach leaves and chloroplasts was detd. by ashing in an electric furnace at 700[degree] C. In the ash of both the leaves and the chloroplasts, K is present in the greatest conc., followed by Mg, Ca and P in the order given. Dialysis removes K most, and Ca least readily.
