Abstract
Streaks and patches of red water in Frenchman Bay, Gulf of Maine, contained countless numbers of a small ciliate, Cyclotrichium meunieri* (p. 74), which are ovoid in shape with an equatorial band of compound cilia, and contain peripherally arranged chromatophore platelets, each with an associated pyrenoid body. The single macronucleus contains a core of plastin, and the single micronucleus shows 6 chromosomes during division.
