Abstract
The hormone was purified most easily, starting with the raw product obtained from urine, by adsorption on kaolin, which was then extracted with secondary ammonium-phosphate solution. The phosphatic solution was precipitated with Ba(C2H3O2)2 followed by Ba(OH)2. The dry preparation, containing 100-130 mouse units per mgm. (the activity of the preparations was tested on small female mice according to the directions of B. Zondek and S. Aschheim), was more active than that obtained by the method of Reiss and Haurowitz or of B. Zondek. Electrodialysis by use of a parchment membrane freed the preparation of inorganic impurities. Chemical examination of the above preparation, including certain color and precipitation tests, indicates that the active substance is a protein body rich in sugar. It resembles the so called "mucoiden" particularly the "urine-mucoid" obtained by K. A. H. Morner from the nubecula. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
