Scanning and Transmission Electronmicroscopy of Schistosoma Mansoni Eggs, Cercariae, and Adults *

Abstract
Cercariae and adult males and females of Schistosoma mansoni were studied by scanning electronmicroscopy, and the eggs of this species were studied by this technique as well as by transmission electronmicroscopy. The observations of the eggs by the transmission technique revealed shell pores, epicuticular microbarbs, and other structures noted in our previous study. The various observations with the scanning technique used to study the eggs, cercariae, and adult worms are noted and illustrated by selected micrographs.
