The estimation of creatine and of diacetyl

Abstract
The reaction between creatine, diacetyl, and a-naphthol in alkaline solution, leading to formation of a red pigment, was studied; and methods of estimating creatine, diacetyl, and acetyl methyl carbinol, based on this reaction. were described. It is shown that the reaction involves the utilization of atmospheric O2. Certain sources of interference are discussed. The method requires 10-50 [mu]g of the substance to be estimated.
