Fixed Poles in the Complex Angular-Momentum Plane

Abstract
It is shown that fixed poles in the plane are forbidden for strong interactions unless there exist moving branch points with very specific properties. A fixed pole with protective cuts is considered as a possible model for diffraction scattering.
