Abstract
The partial structure factors a ij(i, j = 1, 2) for a binary mixture of hard spheres are evaluated in the Percus-Yevick approximation. They are shown to have a simple closed form and can be evaluated directly in terms of the assumed hard sphere diameters. As an example, the aij are evaluated for liquid Na K and are used to predict (i) the x-ray diffraction pattern and (ii) the isothermal compressibility. In both cases, the agreement with the experimental data is good. Keywords
